Acanthus Holden Architects were appointed by the Hean Castle Estate to design a new visitor centre and parking facility providing family changing & showers, a restaurant, activity centre, shop and education area.
As lead consultants Acanthus Holden prepared and correlated the complex application that included co-ordinating all the statutory reports required by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Planning Department. This challenging project was granted planning permission September 2012 and opened at Easter 2014. The building received the 2015 RICS award for Tourism and Leisure.
Converted in 2007 this boutique hotel opened in December 2008 and has become the favourite haunt of film stars visiting Pembrokeshire. As well as the original conversion Acanthus Holden have designed and managed several extensions & conversions within the grounds of The Grove.
This project involves the comprehensive refurbishment of the existing Twr-y-Felin Hotel, and extension to provide a 5* hotel sleeping 40 guests and a Michelin starred restaurant for the city of St Davids. The building contract is due complete in 2015. This is one of a number of projects carried out by the practice for the Retreats Group and worked on in conjunction with Aedas Interiors Ltd.
