Farmhouse Conversion (Re-design and Semi-conversion) This farmhouse conversion was originally designed to feel like an open plan Mediterranean villa but the new owners wanted to convert it back to a smart country farmhouse with rustic elements. This is still a work in progress but the following images will let you see our progress so far. Currently work has been completed to the kitchen, snug and guest bedroom 1. Work is currently underway in the master bedroom, lounge and hallway. The farmhouse conversion is taking into account the property location and surrounding countryside to create a modern yet country inspired family home. The kitchen was designed to have a contemporary edge whilst still maintaining a country theme with the British hand made, solid oak cabinetry and mixture of sleek black granite and 250 year old reclaimed oak surfaces. The aga surround was designed to display the clients large collection of cook books as cooking is definitely a central part in this family life. As the rest of the canvas is quite neutral, we wanted to create a feature tiled back drop behind the Aga so we sourced some antique Italian mosaics and broke them up and mixed them together to form a random, mis-matched collection of designs all in complimenting colours of sage, blush pink, blue and yellow.

Boutique Hotel Interior Design: Mitton Hall Several years ago Mitton Hall was purchased by local hotelier James Warburton. James undertook a huge structural renovation project and working closely with Amy Nicholas Interior Design, the hotel was redesigned with no expense spared on the build, fabrics and wall coverings chosen. Well known prestigious brands such as Zoffany, Mulberry, Ardecora and Cole & Son were used throughout the hotel to create lavish drapes, feature walls and tactile upholstery. Under James’s ownership and direction, Mitton Hall has been transformed into one of the best boutique hotels throughout the North of England, favourite for lavish weddings, christenings and parties. Mitton Hall is a great example of boutique hotel design that is dramatic and theatrical without being over the top.

Modern Farmhouse The brief was to design the master bedroom suite, lounge and beautiful curved walnut kitchen. We have worked with these clients over a number of years on various projects. The clients overall brief was to create a modern farmhouse interior design scheme which was light, airy and most importantly restful and calming. In the master bedroom we decided to use a neutral palette of taupe with limited pattern. The emphasis was put on the textures of the fabrics. The client wanted the lounge to function as both a formal and informal space which was to be dramatic without being over powerful or dominant. To create a continuation throughout the space, the colour palette was inspired by nature with the introduction of steel greys and deep midnight blues. As the client was not overly keen on large scale pattern, we kept this to a minimum and focused on a mixture of different textures instead. We used a combination of textured wallpapers, silks, velvet, linens and metallic’s to give an extra dimension to the schemes. The stunning curved walnut kitchen was designed and installed by the team at Neal Jones Furniture Limited who we have worked with on many projects.

Bolton Lounge Design We were commissioned to completely redesign our clients lounge. It had not been altered since just after they moved in over 18 years ago and needed a complete rethink. The room is large in size, being over 7m x 5m in floorspace and the clients wanted to reduce the vastness of the space. The design was based upon a sociable seating area with focal points to the fireplace and outside. We supersized everything within the design purposefully to fill the space and work with the proportions. The only existing element is the large open fireplace. To the right hand side of the fireplace was a strange little angled space which was neither functional nor adding to the aesthetic of the room. We decided to plaster this space in level with the edge of the fireplace and create an large opening to form a decorative log store next to the fire. This squared off the space and made a really stylish feature for the country property. We designed and built the beautiful floor to ceiling bookcase which incorporates the double opening into the kitchen. This created a much needed storage space, shortened off the proportions of the room and created another welcoming feature to the space. The sofas are custom made and upholstered in a taupe velvet with bespoke scatters in an array of sumptuous and tactile fabrics from our studio. The rug is from the new Louis Portiere collection from Romo and is in 100% hand tufted wool. We chose a largescale rug, nearly 3m x 4m, as the space needed oversized pieces. The occasional table and wall lights finished in aged gilt are from Vaughan London with shades from Tradescant and Son. The piece de resistance was the bespoke deep buttoned ottoman designed by Amy and made by our expert craftsmen. This huge yet exquisite piece doubles as an ottoman and coffee table due to the carefully selected surface construction. The ottoman was finished with antique studs for an aged look.
