62-68 York Way, Kings Cross
Axiom Architects were commissioned to design a flagship mixed-use scheme, comprising a 389 bedroom hub by Premier Inn hotel with separate retail units next to Kings Cross station.
This consists of a two floor basement, and 6 above ground floors, bringing the development to a total of 9 floors. Full appointment from feasibility to completion included novated services as lead consultant for a design and build contractor.
Private Residence, London
Axiom Architects were appointed by the owner of an existing 1850s residential building to develop proposals for a full internal renovation and extension.
Proposals include stripping back to the existing building but being sensitive to the original listed features, forming new bedrooms and a ground and basement extension.
The rear extension used continuous piling to form a waterproof basement which involved 17 Party Wall Agreements being agreed within a compact site.
As part of the Grade II Listed Terrace House, the site was subject to extensive negotiation with the Local Authority and English Heritage.
The work to the façade and interior has transformed a neglected, run down structure into a rejuvenated residence that is in keeping with its Grade II listed status.
15 Dacre Street, Westminster
This project involved the refurbishment and internal reconfiguration of an existing office building in the heart of Westminster, in close proximity of the Houses of Parliament.
1-2 Dorset Rise, Blackfriars, London
The project involved the conversion of an existing 1930s office building which had subsequently been re-clad and remodelled in the 1980s.
The proposed hotel included a new reception and restaurant at ground floor level with the formation of a new front entrance.
Axiom Architects worked closely with the main contractor Ardmore Group Ltd as novated architects and lead consultants for the project.
The development followed an extremely tight timescale with initial hotel phase taking just 10 months from start on site to completion.
The finished building provided Premier Inn with a flagship hotel, their first in the City of London.
The creation of new entrances and remodelling of the courtyard served to create a new public space whilst improving accessibility.

84-99 Thirleby Road, Westminster, London
Only 14 months from appointment to completion, this fast paced student housing renovation project involved the stripping out of an existing late Victorian mansion block, taking the building back to its structural elements, and the construction of new raised acoustic floors, partitions and building services throughout.
A bespoke interior design, harmoniously mixed the traditional with the contemporary. Original details within the building were reinterpreted in new elements, whilst modular furniture within student bedrooms were developed to maximise the functionality of the spaces and work within various configurations.
A series of elegant common areas were provided including a new reception, common room and library, with bespoke designs for furniture and signage throughout the building.
Given the tight timescales of the project, Axiom worked closely with the contractor and design team, working on site throughout construction to co-ordinate the works as they progressed.
