Penelope Hughes-Ross is the driving force behind CAPSTONE. A graduate of Edinburgh and St.Martins in London she joined the legendary Jean Monro of Belgravia before setting up her own company some twenty years ago. She heads an enthusiastic team of diverse talents which enables her to embark on a wide range of projects both here and abroad.
Commissions vary from the traditional disciplines of a Grade One listed building to contemporary designs using the latest technology and materials. Great emphasis is attached to establishing a clear understanding of a client’s needs and aspirations, responding with design proposals sympathetic to the architectural features of the building.
Current projects include the latest restoration programme of the magnificent eighteenth century house, Trafalgar Park – the house given by a grateful nation to the family of Lord Nelson. In contrast, among the London projects, is a contemporary penthouse apartment and a large family house incorporating stunning glass staircase and a major renovation of a riverside property on the Thames. She has also completed the renovation of a lateral top floor apartment in Onslow Square, an apartment on the French Riviera and a villa in North Africa.
Other notable personal commissions include a country hotel in Scotland, the renovation of the Chapel in the secure wing of Wandsworth Prison and the fitting out of a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean.
