Riverbank House London EC4 Riverbank House, the new 430,000 sq ft headquarters for the Man Group on Upper Thames Street in the City of London, was completed in May 2010. The site is typical of the City of London’s riverside, where warehouses extended from Roman times onward along narrow lanes down to the Thames side quays.
Bow Bells House London EC4 Bow Bells House is a new 215,000 square feet office building, located at the midpoint of Cheapside, linking the Bank of England and St Paul’s Cathedral. The site, adjacent to Wren’s Grade I listed St Mary-le-Bow, is highly sensitive and within the Bow Lane Conservation Area.
Transitional Housing Following a dramatic rise in homelessness in the mid-1980s, the city of New York inaugurated an innovative program of prototype buildings to take single adults and families out of shelters and place them in supportive housing. The buildings are organised into ‘houses’ consisting of eight bedrooms, arranged into pairs that share a toilet and shower room. Four pairs are then grouped around a shared kitchen/dining room and double-height living room.
Deutsche Bank Headquarters Winchester House, the London headquarters of Deutsche Bank, occupies a major city block at the junction of London Wall and Old Broad Street. The sinuous street-wall building is arranged over 10 floors including three trading floors. The scheme was designed by David Walker while Design Principal at SHCA and received the Civic Trust award in 2000.
Merrill Lynch Financial Centre The Merrill Lynch Financial Centre in the City of London was designed to re-establish the site’s coherence and enhance its context through new pedestrian routes and open spaces, formed around two new and two refurbished buildings. Designed by David Walker while Design Principal at SHCA, it has won numerous awards including the Civic Trust Award.
