North End, Ditchling Existing dwelling improvements. Felce and Guy were appointed to refurbish and extend an existing bungalow into a five bedroom luxury home, set within the beautiful surroundings of the South Downs. We took the project through a tricky planning process, due to it’s setting in a National Park, and a challenging build as the site had limited access. We worked closely with the developers to refine their ideas and to produce a stunning residence, which surpassed their original vision.
Hurst Road, Sussex Felce and Guy were commissioned to provide full architectural services for the re-modelling and extending of an existing family home to provide additional ground floor living space with a clear connection to the garden. Works completed on site in 2018
The Bellows, East Sussex Felce and Guy were commissioned to provide full architectural services for the erection of a standalone indoor swimming pool and gymnasium adjacent to an existing residential dwelling in East Sussex. The brief for this project was to provide a purpose built two-storey building to house an indoor swimming pool on the ground floor and gym on the first floor. Balancing the needs of the internal accommodation with an external form in-keeping with the existing dwelling proved challenging but the resultant architecture sits comfortably within the site and provides a close connection to the surrounding landscape. We successfully secured planning permission and oversaw works on site, which were completed in 2018.
Farlington Avenue Existing dwelling extensions, alterations and improvements. Felce and Guy were commissioned to provide full architectural services for the re-modelling and extending of an existing two bedroom bungalow into a modern five bedroom family home. The works involved a large amount of demolition and rebuilding to provide the levels of accommodation required, as well as improving the overall configuration of the internal spaces. Obtaining planning permission was far from easy as we were looking to maximise the floor area of the new property.A particular success of this project was that we were able to lower the rear ground floor level to maintain the correct proportion of the new larger extended living spaces.
River Ouse plot, Barcombe Mills Felce and Guy were commissioned to design a new four bedroom house to replace a badly fire-damaged dwelling on the bank of the River Ouse. The site had been granted outline planning permission to replace the property with a similar building. Our design had to respond to the conditions stipulated by this permission, including scale, siting within the site and the need to address the issue that the site is at risk of flooding (Flood Zone 3). We developed a contemporary solution, considering the building form, size, materials and the sensitivity of the setting. Planning Permission was granted in March 2016, after which we developed the building regulations and construction drawings. Work commenced on site in Autumn 2016 and completed during the Summer of 2017.
