Residential: Beach house
A professional couple are building a holiday home on a protected part of Cyprus’s west coast and we are furnishing it in a modern, relaxed style.
The first priority was the kitchen planning and design so we designed a simple ‘island’ solution that works perfectly with the open-plan dining area.
We opted for white concrete floors throughout, which unite all areas of the house and extend out onto the terrace, then commissioned huge rugs that define the seating areas and bedroom spaces.
Bookcases, shelving and TV units designed by Lee Associates are being made locally. All other furniture and soft furnishings have either been sourced through vintage fairs (taking our client with us) or made bespoke to suit the house.
Workplace: JohnstonWorks
Our client, an award-winning Branding and Communication graphic design agency, asked Lee Associates for interior design input to help create their individual new office within a ‘shell and core’ building near London Bridge.
Working as a team with the client and their architects we created a bespoke studio office Interior reflecting the unique qualities of our clients’ own brand, appealing to their clients and their in-house team alike.
Bookcases, new doors and storage cupboards were designed to suit the Industrial look of this former leather-working factory. Loose furniture and furnishings were sourced to give the office a relaxed, lived-in feel. Even, ‘Vincent’ the partners’ lively dog, is happy in his new ‘home’.
Residential: Chelsea apartment
Our clients had gutted a 1980s maisonette and asked Lee Associates to design and furnish it throughout. Following our close liaison with the architect, the result was an increase in the overall accommodation space.
The entry level is now virtually one open-plan space, incorporating the kitchen, dining and living areas.
As our clients own several important Japanese works of art, we included touches that would complement these pieces, including a black lacquer kitchen and indigo blue walls in the downstairs cloakroom.
We designed a wall-to-wall shelving system that houses audio and TV units as well as specialist books and albums. We also devised fitments for the study that would accommodate computers, filing and storage.
Hospitality: Moorgate Oriental
A neglected ground floor site of 4000 sq.ft. has been remodelled for new owners to create the first of an intended chain of branded Oriental-style café bars. A raised timber floor at the rear of the site has been extended to accommodate 85 covers. The 12 metre long front bar and adjacent counters offer bar seating for drinks and snacks. The menu has been designed around the concept of Japanese Bento lunch boxes and the surface material and colours reflect this concept.
Hospitality: The Victory Services Club
The Victory Services Club in London is located in a grand Edwardian building, but the interior décor had become tired, dull and uninspiring. Lee Associates was brought in to give the whole place a total refurbishment.
The building had been badly converted some years before and there was inefficient use of space throughout. With their in-depth knowledge of spatial planning, Lee Associates remodelled the interior to create space for additional toilets, extra seating areas and a new lounge bar. When completed, the refurbishment was a delightful blend of traditional and contemporary, which resulted in a very comfortable and relaxing club environment.
The design transformation succeed in attracting additional members to the club and average spend per head has increased markedly – largely due to the success of the stunning new bar.
Hospitality: Sri Thai
“Brand new, voluminous foodie hall graced with a light and airy elegance. But it is its 30 foot cherry-wood bar, floor to ceiling mirrors and chequered cherry/pine parquet floor which raises it above the City norm, presenting the fortunate diner with a dazzling new showcase for Thai cuisine…” Square Meal
Retail: Kellman Pyle
Shoe retailer, Kellman Pyle, had taken over the lease of a 2m x 2m shop in the upmarket shopping gallery inside the City’s Royal Exchange. They called in Lee Associates to create a prestige boutique with a distinct boudoir feel.
As the Royal Exchange is a Grade I listed building, the planning rules were very restrictive, but Lee Associates managed to maximise the available space by removing a mezzanine level at the rear. This revealed a 6m high ceiling from which they suspended a spectacular crystal chandelier.
All the shop fittings were custom made, as was the luxurious chaise longue. The result was an opulent, yet intimate, jewel of a shop that beautifully complemented the gorgeous shoes and bags on sale.
