Henrietta Spencer-Churchill – Biography

Henrietta Spencer-Churchill is the eldest daughter of the 11th Duke of Marlborough whose family home is Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. Henrietta studied at the Inchbald School of Design before forming her own highly successful Interior Design Company, Woodstock Designs in 1981 undertaking commissions worldwide. Woodstock Designs are specialists in residential design from renovation of period properties to new build houses and experts in incorporating current trends and technology whilst respecting the historic character and architecture.

In 1986, Henrietta formed a separate Company, Spencer-Churchill Designs producing a selection of furniture, fabrics and wallpapers and since then her international success has enabled her to establish a US design company, Spencer-Churchill Designs Inc, in 2003.

Henrietta wrote her first book “Classic English Interiors” in 1990, followed by nine further books. Her eleventh, ‘The Life of the House. The Evolution of Rooms’ was published by Rizzoli in October 2012.  Details of all the books is in the ‘Books’ section on this website.

She is also continuously involved with restoration projects of her family home Blenheim Palace and many of the properties which are renovated for letting.

In 2011, Henrietta launched a new collection of elegant furnishings, upholstery, accessories and lighting in partnership with Maitland-Smith.

She also created a range of iron door designs in partnership with The Iron Door Company based on a range of Neo-Classical, Georgian and English styles.
