Cottingley Primary Academy William Saunders were appointed by the Academies Enterprise Trust to design two additional teaching spaces, rationalise the layout of the administration area and offices, improve safeguarding and improve the general layout of the building and arrival point of the entrance.

Workpods, Doncaster Sheffield Airport This development of 14 office ‘pods’ was carried out on behalf of Workpods Limited and is situated within the Doncaster Sheffield Airport site.

Aerospace Technology Centre University of Nottingham The commission for this project was won in a limited design competition under a consultant framework agreement. The University launched its new Institute for Aerospace Technology in 2011 and commissioned this new £4million building to house it.

Flannels, York William Saunders headed a multi-disciplinary team and provided the Project Management, QS, Architectural and Principal Designer roles on this new Flannels store in York.

SOCKSHOP, Arndale Centre, Manchester William Saunders were tasked with producing a new retail concept design for the new SOCKSHOP brand and flagship store in the Arndale Centre, Manchester.

Malt Cross Music Hall – Nottingham William Saunders were appointed to transform one of Nottingham’s best loved venues into a multipurpose heritage and creative arts centre for public use.

William Saunders was originally founded in 1846 and evolved through various changes throughout its history. The original founders were George Sheppard (Architect and Surveyor) and Captain H.W. Lockton, originally articled to him and becoming a Partner and sole owner after the death of Mr. Sheppard. On the death of Captain Lockton in 1924, John Saunders (father of William Saunders) purchased his practice and practiced as Sheppard, Lockton and Saunders. The firm carried on and grew for many years, eventually evolving to Wm Saunders & Partners and subsequently to Wm Saunders Partnership, which became a Limited Liability Partnership on 1st July 2004.

In 2006, the head office moved to its new purpose-built offices in Newark, providing a collaborative and integrated office environment for the multi-disciplinary teams now working on an ever-wider range of projects. In 2012, the Leeds office moved into its newly refurbished office base in the centre of Leeds and the Derbyshire office was founded in Wirksworth in a new office stylishly converted from a former workshop building. The practice’s long and distinguished pedigree underlies its commitment to providing a relevant and totally professional service to its wide-ranging clients and William Saunders will no doubt continue to evolve..
